Griffith, Elizabeth C. (Jones) (11 JUL 1839 – 9 Jan 1916)

Elizabeth C. Jones was born at Liverpool, England, on July 11, 1839. At the age of 8 years she came to the United States with her parents, locating at Sheboygan Falls, Wis. The Jones family lived there fourteen years and then removed to Fond du Lac County which became their new home ever since. Elizabeth Jones was united in marriage to John D. Griffith in January, 1861, and four sons were born to them, all of whom survive their parents. The sons are E.J. of this city, J.H. of Oshkosh, W.G. of Carrington, N.D. and T.A. of Oklahoma City, Okla. The Griffith family made their home in Fond du Lac County for many years, but when Mr. Griffith died in June, 1900, Mrs. Griffith made her home with her son, E.J. She died on Sunday at the Griffith home on the north side, deeply mourned by her family and all with whom she had become acquainted for she was a woman of beautiful character and highest ideals. The remains were taken to Fond du Lac Monday evening for interment. All her sons were present at the funeral with the exception of T.A. Griffith of Oklahoma. Deceased is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
