Wilke, Charles (3 NOV 1857 – 3 Jan 1916)

Charles Wilke died Monday evening at his home southeast of the city, following a stroke of paralysis. Deceased was born in Germany and was 58 years, 2 months of age. He came to the United States in 1883 and on Sept. 10, 1886 was united in marriage to Henrietta Simons at Elkhorn. They resided in Walworth County for 14 years and on Nov. 3, 1897, they came to Clark County and settled on the farm which has been their home ever since. Seven children were born to them, all of whom with their mother survive their father. The children are Mrs. Frank Jahr of Granton, Charles Wilke of Unity, Mrs. Reinhold Pagenkopf, Mrs. John Counsell, Arnold, Clara, and Helen, the latter three living at home.

Mr. Wilke was a man of high integrity and worth and all with whom he came in contact were impressed with his evident kindliness of character and charitable inclinations. His death is sincerely mourned by all his many friends. The funeral will be held today at 12 o’clock at the house and interment will be made in the Neillsville Cemetery.
