Bailey, James Lee (2 September 1948 - 20 July 2013)

James Bailey, 64, of Neillsville died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

James Lee Bailey was born Sept. 2, 1948, in Springfield, IL, the son of George and Norma Jean (Barton) Bailey. He graduated from high school in Illinois and then attended the University of Iowa and earned several degrees in accounting. Jim was married and later divorced. At the age of 24, he moved to Neillsville and owned and operated Bailey and Associates & Asgard computing Equipment. He served as the accountant for several area businesses and also worked and sold computer equipment. Later in life, he began teaching business and computer classes at the Granton High School in Granton. While teaching, Jim handled and led the mock trial and was the leader of the FBLA.

Jim loved studying and reading about history. He loved playing historical war board games and later computer war games. He was a huge Iowa Hawkeyes fan and would attend games when he could.

He actively volunteered his tax accounting skills at the Neillsville American Legion and was a member of the Neillsville Kiwanis Club. Jim was also active in the Neillsville Area Players and played a part in several of their productions, starting with “the Princess and the Pea,” in which he played the king.

He is survived by a son, Michka (Janna) Bailey of Rockford, IL; a sister, Georgia Bremner of Bloomington, IL; a nephew, Darrick (Tammy) Bremner, and their children, Eli and Emily of Peoria, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Sasha.

A memorial service for Jim will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2012 at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, with visitation from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
