KAREN WEIDEMAN BECOMES BRIDE OF ROBERT BAKKE

Karen Ann Weideman became the bride of Robert Arnold Bakke at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Curtiss when the nuptial vows were exchanged on Saturday, October 19, at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon. The Rev. Roger Tellock, officiated at the ceremony when the bride was given in marriage by her father. White, gold and bronze mums adorned the church altar and pews were decorated with white bows and lily of the valley. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Weideman of Curtiss, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Bakke of Curtiss.

Miss Rhonda Mattson played for the wedding and Miss Bunee Kraut sang “O Perfect Love” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”

The bride chose for her wedding a floor-length bridal gown of chantilly lace fashioned with a basque bodice and jewel trimmed scalloped sweetheart neckline. The full skirt which featured a lave panel down the front and completed by all around tiers of lace and tulle was edged with sequins.

Her bouffant illusion veil was secured to a queen’s crown of pearls and aurora borealis crystal. Her bouquet included red roses and white chrysanthemums in a cascade of arrangement to which white streamers were attached.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Miss Jane Weideman of New London, Bridesmaids were Miss Janice Weideman, a cousin of the bride from Menomonie, and Miss Shirley Landwehr of Marshfield.

The maid of honor wore a willow green gown while the bridesmaids ensembles were gold. Their brocade floor-length formals had fitted bodices with oval necklines and semi-full skirts formed by unpressed pleats with bow trim at the front waistlines.

Each aide had a headpiece which was a matching cluster of fabric petals with buds and pearl trim to which face veils were attached. Their bouquets were cascade arrangements of gold and bronze chrysanthemums with streamers.

Attending the groom as best man was Robert Weideman, the groom’s brother. Other groomsmen were Larry Fritz, Owen, and Gene Himes of Longwood. Serving as ushers were Jerry Weideman and Ross Fritz. The white carpet was rolled out by the bride’s brothers, Robin and Dickie Weideman.

The bride’s mother was attired in a three-piece green suit with gold accessories. She wore a corsage of gold and white mums.

The groom’s mother’s dress was gold with green accessories. A gold and white mum corsage was worn on her shoulder.

A wedding reception was held in the Curtiss Community Hall immediately following the wedding to which over two hundred attended. Later at 5:00 o’clock a wedding dinner was served in the church dining room to 225 guests. A dance was held at the Dorchester Memorial Hall in Dorchester that evening.

Out of town guests were from La Crosse, Ripon, Waupun, Wild Rose, Markesan, Stevens Point, Wausau, Clintonville, Westby, Marshfield, New London, Menomonie, and Waukegan, Illinois. Local relatives and guests came from owen, Curtiss and Abbotsford.

The bride attended the Owen-Withee High School graduating in 1960. She has been employed in Ripon at the Ripon Foods until recently.

The groom graduated in the 1957 class of the Owen-Withee High School and is engaged in farming.

After a wedding trip which took the newly weds into northern Wisconsin, Michigan, Canada, New York, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. They are residing on a farm in rural Curtiss.

Prior to the wedding, three nuptial showers were given the bride, one in Ripon, one in Curtiss, and one in Owen.
