MRS. EDDIE MAKI RITES CONDUCTED HERE WED.

Funeral services were held yesterday, Wednesday, October 7, at 1:30 p.m. from Bethany Lutheran Church for Mrs. Eddie (Vera Maria) Maki, 56 a former Owen resident, who died Friday at a hospital in Pittsburg, California. Rev. Beryl Knudsen officiated and burial was made at Riverside cemetery.

Pallbearers were Toivo Kangas, Wm. Kangas, Voitto Mutka, Frank Karye, Kano Niemi, and Milton Seaman.

In charge of the floral offerings were Esther Wnukowski, Eva Buss, June Niemi and Jane Kangas.

The former Vera Maria Maki was born Oct. 6, 1908, in Owen and received her education here. She worked as a nurse in the Legault Hospital in Owen until her marriage to Eddie Maki in 1934.

After their marriage, the couple lived in East Chicago until 1946, when they returned to the Withee area and farmed for one year. They then moved to Pittsburg, Calif.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Sonja Magana, Pittsburg, Calif; two brothers, William Maki, Owen; and George Maki, Madison; and two sisters, Mrs. Edna Torgerson, Fisher, Minn.; and Mrs. Betty Kessel, Moscow, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by a brother.
