------ Maas, Diane Kay (27 FEB 1965)

The first Christian Church in Iowa Falls was the scene of a double ring ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, uniting in marriage Miss Diane Kay Maas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burdis Maas of Iowa Falls, and Kenneth Lee Weisenburger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Weisenburger of Abbotsford.  Performing the nuptials was Rev. Preston Hendricks.

The alter was flanked with candelabra and decorated with blue and white arrangements of chrysanthemums.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of peau taffeta.  The sculptured bodice, dramatized with re-embroidered alencon lace applique, featured a scoop neckline.  The long sleeves tapered to traditional bridal point over the wrists.  The A-line skirt featuring an empire waistline fell in graceful lines over bridal petticoats into an aisle-wide train.  Her double veil of bridal illusion fell in a circular sweep from a butterfly crown of seed pearls, loops and aurora crystals.  Her string of pearls was a present from the groom.

The matron of honor, Mrs. Albert Tordoff, sister of the bride, and bridesmaid, Miss Cheryl Weisenberger, sister of the groom, wore powder blue floor-length gowns accented with royal blue and styled empire waist and elbow length sleeves.  As a headpiece the attendants wore a double royal blue bow with matching veil.  Each carried a single long stemmed chrysanthemum.

Thomas Streckert of Abbotsford, friend of the groom, was best man.  Serving as groomsman was Wayne Schade of Menomonee Falls, also a friend of the groom.  Assisting the groom as ushers were Albert Tordoff, Bob Stowe and Pat Galvin.

Miss Wilma Nyce played nuptial music and accompanied David Gormley as he sang “The Greatest of Theses is Love”.

For her daughter’s wedding Mrs. Maas chose a blue three piece suit.  The bridegroom’s mother was present in a beige sheath.  Both wore corsages of white roses.

A reception for 110 was held in the church parlors with Mr. and Mrs. George Hansen and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wright as hosts.

After the traditional cut by the bride and groom the cake was cut and served by Mrs. Harold Harkema and Mrs. Robert Flatebo, cousins of the bride.  Serving as waitresses for the bridal table were Miss Linda Watson and Miss Jody Scharer.  Serving punch throughout the reception were Mrs. James Anderson and Miss Linda Jackson.  Mrs. Don Scharer and Mrs. Bernell Stowe, aunts of the bride, presided at the coffee services.  Assisting the bride and groom at the opening of their gifts were the Misses Linda Watson, Jody Scharer and Margaret Harlus.

Relatives and friends attended the wedding from Iowa Falls, Ackley, Hampton, New Providence, Alden, New London, Zearing, Union, Nora Springs, Geneva, Cedar Rapids, Marshalltown, Mason City and Waterloo, Ia., Rockford and Chicago, Ill., Frost and Rochester, Minn., and Sioux Falls, S. Dak.

Mrs. Weisenburger, a graduate of Iowa Falls high school, is a senior nursing student at Michael Reese hospital medical center school of nursing in Chicago.  The groom is a graduate of Ellsworth Junior college and Valparaiso University, and is employed as a systems analyst by the Chemical Abstract Service of Columbus, Ohio.

After Mrs. Weisenburger’s graduation the couple with make their home in Columbus, Ohio.
