Wehrman, Fredrick (03 JUL  1838 - 18 SEP 1913)

Fredrick Wehrman was born July 3rd, 1838, in Hohenholzhausen, Lippe, Detmold, Germany.  When a young man he came to this country and settled at Sheboygan, Wis., where he spent his early life.  On April 30, 1869, he married Miss Caroline Kuester, and to this union were born four children, two dying in their infancy.

In 1878 Mrs. Wehrman died and on the 4th of May 1879, deceased was married to Miss Mary Wolhaupt.  To them was born five children, two boys and three girls, one son departing from this life when but a babe.

The family moved to this county in 1880 and settled on the home farm west of this city, where the children were reared and lived until leaving home.  Mr. Wehrman came to Greenwood in 1909 when his wife passed away, and has since made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Val Volk.  He had been ill for the past ten years and his last sickness was of about two weeks duration.  His demise came peaceably and easy, heart failure and his nervous system being the cause of his death, which occurred on Thursday, Sept. 18.

Deceased was a faithful member of the German Reformed Church of the West Side, of which he was a deacon and a Sunday School teacher for many years.  Funeral services were held at the home and at the church on the West Side Monday afternoon and interment made in the church cemetery.  Rev. Otto Saewert pronounced the last words over the body, as it was laid to the last resting place.

Those left to mourn his departure are five children; Fred, Mesdames Wm. And Val Volk, Otto, Mrs. Gustave Abel; and one brother, Wm. Wehrman, of the West Side.
