Irving Stevens (20 July 1897 - 27 February 1970)

Funeral services for Irving Stevens, 72, of Rt. 1 Neillsville, who died February 27, were held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. William Dushek of the United Methodist Church officiated and burial as made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Stevens was born to William and Anna (Shoop) Stevens July 20, 1897, in Clark County where he received his education. He was married November 26, 1919, in Neillsville to Gladys Winters. He served on the town board of Washburn and also served several terms on the Shortville School board. He was engaged in farming for over 50 years. Mr. and Mrs. Stevens just recently celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; three daughters, Mrs. Leland (Eileen) Dopp of Marshfield, Mrs. John (Ione) Urban of Neillsville and Mrs. Wallace (Joanne) Krause of Menomonee Falls; a sister, Mrs. James (Eva) Waller of Edgerton an six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Ernest Kuhn, Clarence and John Reinart, William Rizner, Dave Krutsch and Harold Junchen. Two hymns, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Sweetly Resting” were sung by Julie Knoff, accompanied by Marilyn Galstad.

Those from out of town attending included Mr. and Mrs. James Waller of Edgerton; Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Krause and Cheryl of Menomonee Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Dopp and Linda, Juleen and Dixie, of Marshfield; Norma Hepburn of Fremont; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Marheine of Tripoli; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Miller of Withee; Arnold Trachte of Madison; and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Abrahamson of Fairchild.
