Curtin, John D. (8 August 1890 - 27 February 1970)

Funeral services for John D. Curtin, 79, of Marshfield who died February 27, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday from St. John’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert A. Brezinski, assistant pastor officiating. Burial was made in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery at Hewitt.

Mr. Curtin was born August 8, 1890, in Mankato, Minn. He moved with his parents to Marshfield where he received his education. He served with the U. S. Army from 1917 to 1919. He was married to Marie A. Reshel in Wisconsin Rapids November 18, 1919. They observed their Golden anniversary in 1969.

Mr. and Mrs. Curtin operated a farm in the Town of Richfield (Wood Co) until 1949. Following that he was employed at the former Roddis Corporation Plant until retiring in 1955.

He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society; the Senior Citizens Club and World War I Barracks No. 2319. He had served the Shadynook School district in the Town of Richmond (Wood Co) as clerk for nine years.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Merwyn (Henrietta) Schutz and Mrs. Robert (Mae) Barth, both of Granton, Mrs. Lawrence (Arlayne) Jonas of Marshfield, Mrs. Norbert (Elayne) Brandriet of Sangus, Calif., and Mrs. Myron (Patricia) Wacynski of Wisconsin Rapids; three sons, David of Nekoosa and Jack and Harry of Milwaukee; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Franson of City Point; two brothers, Frank of Cardwell, Mo., and James of Rt. 5, Marshfield; 39 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Larry Jonas, Fred Schutz, Gordon Schutz, Robert Barth, James Curtin and Terry Wacynski.

Military rites were conducted at the graveside.
