Stellema, Lynn Ellen (Marriage - 8 November 1969)

Arrangements of white gladioli and ‘mums and of candelabra decorated First Presbyterian Church in Michigan city, Ind., where Miss Lynn Ellen Stellema, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert J. Stellema of Michigan City, became the bride of Michael Allan Kauffman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Kauffman of Rt. 1 Chili. The Rev. David L. Thomas performed the double-ring ceremony on Saturday, November 8, at 2 p.m.

The bride’s gown of embroidered sheer organza and designed by the bride, featured a bateau neckline and kubki sleeves. A fitted skimmer held the detachable chapel-length train. Layers of French imported silk illusion fell gracefully from a profile of venise lace, accented by daisies of velvet. She carried a crescent bouquet of white anthurium and tiger lilies. She was given in marriage by her father.

Michele McAnally was maid-of-honor. Jean Kauffman, sister of the groom, and Mrs. Dennis (Mary) Schultz were bridesmaids. They wore gowns of willow green velvet and crepe. Monk sleeves in velvet and bateau necklines accented the fitted empire bodices. Their A-line crepe skirts featured attached trains with velvet inserts. Each carried a curving arrangement of bronze pompons on matching muffs.

The bride’s mother wore taupe and silver brocade ensemble and the groom’s mother was attired in an avocado ensemble. Each wore a corsage of tiger lilies.

Michael Haney of Norristown, Pa., a navy friend, served as bestman. William Berry of Marshfield and William Stellema of Michigan City, a brother of the bride, were groomsmen.

Daniel McNabb sang, “Because,” “Ich Liebe Dich” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Dale Treuax proved nuptial organ music.

Three hundred guests attended a reception held at the Elks Club, with music by the Danny Garbacik Quartet. A fall centerpiece and a four-tiered wedding cake decorated the table.

Mr. and Mrs. Kauffman are on a wedding trip through the south and after November 20, will be at home at 214 Decatur, Michigan City, Ind.

The bride is a graduate of Isaac C. Elston High School and the Michigan City Beauty College. She is employed in La Petite Salon of Beaute. The groom, a graduate of Loyal High School, has just completed four years as a radioman in the navy submarine service, and will enroll next semester as a student at Purdue North Central University.

The date of the newly-married Kauffmans marked the wedding anniversary of the bride’s parents and the birthday anniversary of the groom’s mother.
