Westendorf, Dorothy I. (Hanson) (14 SEP 1914 - 3 JUN 2013)

Dorothy I. Westendorf, age 98, of Withee, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Memorial Health Center in Medford. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 6 at Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born on September 14, 1914, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Redwine) Hanson in Abbotsford. She attended and graduated from Abbotsford schools and Teachers College. Dorothy taught in country schools in the Withee area for a few years.

She was united in marriage to Russell L. Westendorf on December 29, 1939 at Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. Together they farmed in the Town of Maplehurst. Russell preceded her in death on September 3, 1990. Dorothy enjoyed being part of the homemakers and the Clark County Homemakers Chorus, but especially her home, her farm and her family.

Dorothy is survived by her four daughters, Beth (Wally) Kuenne of Stetsonville, Jane (fiancé Del Burrious) LeFevre of Edgerton, Ann (Larry) Schultze of Hartford and Sue (Ted) Brown of Hastings, MN; seven grandchildren, Jill (Dan) Carstensen of Medford, Julie (Elvis) Hernandez of Madison, Katie (Seth) Tomlin of Waunakee, Russ LeFevre of Edgerton, Lisa (Ryan) Mueller of Elkhorn, Charly (Lindee) Schultze of Milwaukee and Elizabeth Schultze of Hartford. She is further survived by 11 great-grandchildren, Lauren and Alex Carstensen, Trey and Luke Hernandez, Darter, Maysen and Vyvienne Tomlin, Chasen Mueller, Leah Schultze, Sam and Maddie Schultze; brother-in-law, Cletus Schraufnagel of Colby; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Anna Marie Schraufnagel; her brother, John (Milly) Hanson; and son-in-law, Larry LeFevre.
