Chester Edward Strzok was born on July 4, 1926, in Chicago, IL, the son of Michael and Anna (Wnek) Strzok. When he was 18 months old, Chet’s family moved to Thorp to help out on his grandparents’ farm. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at Pozen School and Thorp High School. Chet enlisted into the U. S. Army and served overseas in Germany. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Thorp and helped his father on the farm. He was united in marriage to Delores Jandrt on November 12, 1955, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Boyd. He worked on the farm with his father, until his father’s untimely death in 1974. Chet took over the operation of the farm until selling it in 1990. He continued to raise heifers in his spare time.

He was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church, where he ushered at the chapel for many years. He was also a 55-year member of the Thorp American Legion, and was a Town of Withee supervisor for 10 years.

Chet had many interests, but especially loved playing baseball, gardening, flowers, playing his concertina, hunting and fishing. He was a great baseball player and had to turn down an opportunity to play in the minor leagues to help on the farm.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Delores, of Thorp; his children: Scott (Becky) Strzok of Thorp, Cynthia (Joseph) Davettila of Houghton, MI; his grandchildren: Jeffrey Strzok (fiancé Katlyn Broda), Eric Strzok, Ryan Strzok, Anna Davettila, David Davettila; two sisters: Alice (Clarence Mroz of Thorp, and Margaret Mroz of Owen; his sister-in-law, Marilyn Strzok of Janesville; his brother-ion-law, Louis Wehlacz of Glendora, CA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death y his parents; one sister, Lorraine Wehlacz; and one brother, Eugene Harvey Strzok.
