Heinzen, Marlene (18 Sept 1945-17 May 2013)

Markene Heinzen, 67, Marshfield, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2013, at her home. Funeral services were held at 12:30 p.m. on May 24, at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, Marshfield. Rev. Mark Krueger officiated. Burial followed the service at Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield.

Marlene Hansen was born on Sept. 18, 1945, in Neillsville to Mattie Karlotta Minsaas-Hansen and William Gustaf Hansen. She received her education in Neillsville. In 1960, at the age of 15, Marlene moved to Marshfield to work as an au pair for the Tremmel family. She met and fell in love with the neighbor boy, George Heinzen. After dating for several years, the pair married on Aug. 13, 1966, and remained together until his death in June 2004. Marlene retired from Land O’Lakes in Spencer after 30 years of service and making many wonderful friendships. She enjoyed gardening and maintaining a large floral landscape at her home of almost 50 years, She was an avid bird watcher and loved to provide food and shelter for several varieties of birds on her property. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity.

Survivors include three children, Michelle Heinzen, Wauwatosa, Thomas Heinzen, Chili, and George Heinzen, Greenwood; four grandchildren, Alexa Fritsch, Olivia Heinzen, Montana Heinzen and Gage Heinzen; her siblings, Virginia Kuehn, Neillsville, Richard Hansen, Warrens, Carroll Hansen, California, Harold Hansen, Spencer, Arlene Kopinski, Mondovi, Mickey Oestreich, Marshfield, Mavis Sage, Neilsville, Denny Hansen, Withee, and Jimmy Hansen, Athens, Tenn.

In addition to her husband, Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, and three siblings, William Hansen, Mildred Kopinski and Ronald Hansen.
