Dorst, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard M. (Golden -27 August 1969)
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard M. Dorst of 5608 Bjelde lane, Madison, observed their golden wedding anniversary with an open house reception at Monona Methodist Church Sunday afternoon, August 24.
Mrs. Dorst the former Beatrice L. Pepper, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Pepper of Neillsville, became the bride of the eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael G. Dorst of Granton, August 27, 1919. Mr. Dorst had returned from the service with the Blackhawk division of the AEF in France in April of that year.
The wedding took place at the Pepper farm home, near Neillsville, with the late Rev. Wilson Mallory of Granton officiating. The attendants were the bride’s brother, Stanley C. Pepper, and the groom’s sister, Miss Elsie Dorst. The latter is deceased, but Mr. Pepper was at the Anniversary party.
The Dorsts have three sons, Lawrence of Milwaukee, Marvin of Wichita, Kans., and Gerald, Better known as Jerry, of New Glarus. The daughters are: Edythe, Mrs. James Zepplin of Schofield, and Shelby Jean, Mrs. Robert Guerin of Madison. There are 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Mrs. Pepper has three brothers and he has one sister.
Mr. and Mrs. Dorst lived in and near Neillsville, Marshfield and Stratford before moving to Madison about 20 years ago. Relatives and friends from Marathon, Oconto Falls, Seymour, Janesville, Evansville, Marshfield and Neillsville were included in the attendants at the celebration.
