On
Friday night the local high school basketball teams motored to Greenwood where
they met the Greenwood fives. The girls' game was played first, the Granton
girls losing by a score of 20 to 3.
The boys' game followed. In the first
ten minutes of play, the locals played their opponents completely off their
feet, making four of five baskets before Greenwood realtized what had happened.
The Greenwood five then tightened up, making the game a little more interesting
-- to Granton. The superior team work of the locals finally ran the score up so
that at the end of the first half the score stood 18 to 5 in favor of our men.
The last half the Greenwood boys came out to win, but after five minutes of
play the locals tightened up and played all around Greenwood. The game ended in
a score of 30 to 10 for Granton, making the second victory of the season for
Capt. Rausch's squad.
Crandall's Orchestra furnished music for the dance
after the games. Besides the players and their coaches, Mr. White and Miss
Huntzicker, the following rooters accompanied the teams: Misses Gertrude Davis,
Rose Kemmeter, Edith Kampine, Frieda Storm, Ora Phelps, Thea Marsh, Janet
Ritter, Iva Barager and Nellie Gleason, and Messrs. Verlon Wright, Henry Neinas,
Claire La Grander, Glen Hart and Bernard Pietenpol.

Colby to play the high school team at that city.
