Smudde, Alvera (11 JUL 1964)

A home in Orlando, Fla. awaits the new Mr. and Mrs. Robert Luka, whose marriage took place Saturday, July 11, 1964.

Miss Alvera Smudde, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smudde of Abbotsford and Robert Lukas of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), son of Mrs. Clara Lukas of Chicago, exchanged marriage promises during an 11 o'clock nuptial high mass at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Abbotsford, with the Rev. Raymond B. Schulz officiating.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was attired in a long sleeved gown of white illusion lace that featured a floor length skirt of rows of lace ending in a chapel train. Sequins and pearls trimmed the scalloped neckline and pearls and crystal adorned the headpiece made of Chantilly lace petals which held the bouffant veil of imported silk illusion. She carried a cascade bouquet in which three large white orchids were combined with pompons and eucalyptus leaves.

Attending her as matron of honor was her sister, Mrs. Theresa Baehler of Berwyn, Ill.; Miss Pat Kuipelis of Chicago, and Mrs. Bernard Raczykowski of Unity, another sister, were the bridesmaids.

They wore bell shaped floor length gowns of powder blue peau taffeta with lace over the bodice and accented at the front of the waist by a large bow.

Matching bouffant blusher veils were attached to silk flowers to form the headpiece worn by the bride's attendants. They carried bouquets of white daisies formed in a large tear drop.

John Eggers of Kenosha served as best man for his cousin, the groom. Wilbert Smudde of Chicago and Lyle Eggers of Kenosha were groomsmen.

Festivities of the wedding day included a 2 o'clock dinner at the church hall, a reception at the home of the bride's parents, and a wedding dance at Memorial Hall, Dorchester.

The bride was employed with Time, Inc. in Chicago, following her graduation from the Dor-Abby High School. Her husband is stationed with the U.S. Air Force at Orlando Air Force Base, Florida.

Guests at the wedding were from Owen, Merrill, Green Bay, Withee, Colby, Abbotsford, Unity, Kenosha, Loyal, Tomahawk and Marshfield, Wis., Chicago, Harvey, Berwyn and North Lake, Ill.
