Smith, Terry L. (24 SEP 1948 - 15 APR 2013)

Terry L. Smith, 64, Medford, died on Monday, April 15 at Memorial Health Center emergency room in Medford, where he had been taken by ambulance.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 19 at Medford United Methodist Church in Medford, with Rev. Kyochul Shin officiating. Interment will be at Christ Lutheran Halverson Cemetery in Menomonie on Friday at 2 p.m. Pallbearers are Steve, Scott and Cordell Piller, Curtis Hustad, Roger and Rodney Neubauer, Tom, Brad and Brent Wilson, and Mark Welke.

Visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford on Thursday, April 18 from 4 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Friday, from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Terry Smith was born on September 24, 1948 in Menomonie to the late Neil Alvin and Lila June (Wharton) Smith. He attended North Elementary School in Menomonie and Menomonie High School.

In November 1974 in Eau Claire, he married Leona Pierce, and they were later divorced. On January 5, 1990 in Medford, he married Glatha V. Peters, who survives. After his education he worked at Presto in Eau Claire and as a truck driver for Lake Area Sanitation in Rice Lake. In 1989 he moved to Medford and worked as a truck driver for Bauer Trucking, Roehl Transport of Marshfield and Peterson Road Construction until retirement in 2009.

He was a member of Medford United Methodist Church and the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed cars, motorcycles, camping, woodworking, traveling, sketch drawing, hockey, his dogs and the Green Bay Packers.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Tammy Grasley of Merrill and Dawn (Curtis) Hestad of Cameron; two step-sons, Steven (Cathern) Piller of Owen and Scott (Kristy) Piller of Medford; a sister Lela (Tom) Wilson of Menomonie; two sisters-in-law, Andrea Smith of Durand and Sandy (Larry) Tank of Gleason; father-in-law, Walter Peters of Medford; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; aunts and uncles; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Brian and Kevin, and a sister, Neila Smith.
