Gerstberger, Arthur "Art" H. (19 FEB 1926 - 9 APR 2013)

Arthur "Art" H. Gerstberger, 87, Rib Lake, died on Tuesday, April 9 at Memorial Health Center in Medford, where he had been a patient the past four days. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 13 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rib Lake, with Rev. James Heffner officiating and military rites performed by the Rib Lake American Legion Post No. 274. Interment of his cremated remains will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake at a later date.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

Arthur Gerstberger was born on February 19, 1926 in Rib Lake to the late Ernst and Gertrude (Thone) Gerstberger. He attended Fawn Valley Elementary School in Rib Lake and Rib Lake High School. After his education he served in the United States Navy during World War II, then worked in Iowa.

On August 18, 1962 in Milwaukee, he married Marlene Milde, who survives. He worked at Allen Bradley Company in Milwaukee for 18 years, then in 1971 they moved to Rib Lake where he farmed in the Town of Rib Lake, drove truck for Tlusty Beverage Company in Rib Lake and drove school bus. He worked at Weather Shield in Medford for 18 years until retirement.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Rib Lake American Legion Post No. 274, and past member of Friday bowling league at Little Bohemia and dartball league at Zondlo's. He enjoyed gardening and playing cribbage.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Rick) Dohrwardt of Rib Lake; a son, Ronald (Kris) of Rib Lake; a brother, Elmer (Elsie) of Rib Lake; two sisters, Emma Zimbo and Betty Quednow, both of Rib Lake; four grandchildren, Michael and Taran Dohrwardt, Ryne and Nicholas Gerstberger, all of Rib Lake; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, "Sonny" and Otto, and six sisters, Esther Kluckman, Alice Zimbo, Edna Rezutek, Marcella Daubert, and two in infancy.
