Mrs. Meis was born June 3, 1925, in Oakdale, Neb., to Henry and Amelia (Beck) VanErt. She married William F. Meis on Jan. 30, 1951, in Clearwater, Neb.

Jo was a loving wife, mother and grandmother throughout her life. She was a very quiet woman but always carried herself with great dignity. She gave tirelessly of herself in every endeavor, whether it was as an equal partner in her husband's businesses, caring for her children's needs or maintaining a loving home. She found beauty in the most simple things: a picture, a song or her flowers. She believed in the best in everyone and in turn expected the best from everyone. Her caring and tender nature toward all people and her very personal relationship with God will forever be her legacy to all who knew her.

With unending love, we release her from our arms into God's arms.

Jo is survived by her husband, Bill; and by five daughters and two sons, Mariellen Meis of Toledo, Ohio, Bev (Tom) Mason of Wisconsin Rapids, Paula Meis of Stratford, Karen (David) Peaslee of Wisconsin Rapids, Janette (Hal) Dotter of Wisconsin Rapids, Steven (Patti) Meis of City Point and Ken Meis of Stratford. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Jeremy, Kraig, Lisa, Katie, Sarah, Rebecca, Ryan, Alex, Madeline and Audrey; and six great-grandchildren. She is further survived by three brothers and a sister, John (Michelle) VanErt of Anderson, Calif., Evelyn (Dan) McCarty of Lincoln, Neb., Jim VanErt of Wisner, Neb., and Henry (Anita) VanErt of Omaha, Neb.

She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Marie (Sam) Meis and Lorraine (Tom) Logus.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in her name to the Alzheimer's Research Association.
