Herrick, Doris D. (Starkey) (July 29, 1925 - July 21, 2011)

Doris D. Herrick, 85, Chippewa Falls, died on Thursday, July 21 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Bloomer.

A graveside service was held on Monday, July 25 at Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Jump River.


Peterson-Volker Funeral Chapel of Chippewa Falls assisted the family with arrangements.

BLOOMER — Doris D. Herrick, 85, of 6 W. Grand Ave., Chippewa Falls, died Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Bloomer.

She was born July 29, 1925 in Boaz, Wisconsin to Neva Mae Earl and Ole Keith Starkey.

Doris married Burgess Miles Herrick on July 29, 1946. They resided in Chippewa Falls where she made their home and raised their three children. Burgess preceded her in death on June 4, 1977.

Doris enjoyed reading and gardening. One of her favorite places to travel to was Las Vegas. She also loved spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include: a daughter, Sandra (John) Piech of Chippewa Falls; two sons, Thomas (Jean) Herrick of Chippewa Falls, and Richard (Kim) Herrick of Cadott; seven grandchildren, Troy Herrick of Eau Claire, Shane (Trina) Herrick, and Daniel (Sam) Herrick, all of Chippewa Falls, Sheena (Adam) Hitz of Cadott, Amy (Randy) Lee of Chippewa Falls, Jay (Gwen) Herrick of Whitehall, Jason (Sara) Piech of Eau Claire; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; a sister, Lorraine Simonson; and a brother, Dale Starkey.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 25 at Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Jump River. A luncheon will follow at Jump River Community Hall.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Doris’ memory may be made to the Chippewa County Food Pantry.
