Bernard L. Johnson, 65, of Altoona, Wis., died Friday November 24, 2000, at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Bernard Johnson, the son of Ivan and Selma Johnson, was born in Eau Claire, Wis. Aug. 1, 1935, a graduate of Eau Claire Senior High School. Joined the U.S. Marine Corp. at age 17 serving 14 years. He worked on the Alaska Pipeline for 6 years and also was a painter.

He is survived by his mother Selma Johnson of Eau Claire; two sons, Mark Johnson of Naples Fla., Matthew Johnson of New Jersey; one daughter, Angela. Four Brothers, LaVerne of Arizona, Gene of California, Delmar of New Auburn, Wis., Donald of Eau Claire; three sisters, Arlene Frank, Carol Strassman, both of Eau Claire and Joyce Spaeth of Chippewa Falls. Four grandsons and 1 granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews and his loving companion Jean and family and best friend Marty Sell. Bernard loved to camp, fish, play golf and play cribbage.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000 at 6:30 p.m. with visitation from 4 to 6:30 Tuesday at Smith Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mark Rogers officiating. Smith Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
