Vick, Edward (16 Mar 1892-Jan 1964)

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m., Monday at the Loyal Methodist Church for Edgar Vick, 71, 608 N. Maple Ave., Marshfield, a former Loyal resident, who suffered a heart attack Thursday. Rev. Paul Doering officiated and burial took place in the Loyal Cemetery.

Masonic rites were conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday evening.

Edgar Vick was born at Sheboygan Falls on March 16, 1892 and received his education in a parochial school there. When he was 14 years old, he moved with his parents to a farm south of Loyal. His marriage to Ruth Stai took place in September of 1918. She preceded him in death in September of 1953. After their marriage, the couple farmed for in the town of York for 35 years. He sold his farm after his wife’s death and moved to the city of Loyal.

Mr. Vick spent the next two years as caretaker at the H. Roddis home in Marshfield. In 1957 he married Mrs. Dollie Wehling at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The couple then moved to Wauwatosa, Where he was employed as a caretaker until his retirement in 1963, when they moved to Marshfield.

Mr. Vick was a member of the Loyal Methodist Church, the Loyal Masonic Lodge, a school clerk for the Pleasant View School for 16 years and at one time was secretary-treasurer of the cheese factory in the town of York.

Two hymns were sung by Mrs. G. W. Nelson and Mrs. Paul Doering,”Beyond the Sunset” and “Abide With Me”.

Active pallbearers were Herb White, Ray Prior, J. R. Thomas, Lothar Oestreich, Jesse Raab, and Roy Hales.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Virgil (Lorne) Holmes, Spooner; Mrs. Larry (Maridean) Hagen, Eau Claire, and Mrs. Mike (Jean) Schachtely, West Allis; a sister, Mrs. Jake Hensler, Loyal; a brother, Clarence Vick, Oklahoma City; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son.
