Greenwood (17 October 1968)

The 65th birthday of George Gove was observed Thursday afternoon at the Clark county Home for the Aged, where he resides.

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Carteron and family and Mrs. Leona Syth spent Sunday at Butternut and in Phillips at the home of Mrs. John Jasurda, Sr.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cox visited Thursday at the Jerrold Kuester home in Eau Claire.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Cox have returned from a visit with relatives in Chicago.

Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Thomas arrived Tuesday from Glacier National Park, Mont., where they were employed during the summer months, to spend some time with her mother, Mrs. Lydia Dill and other relatives.

Relatives and friends helped Erwin Toburen celebrate his birthday at his home Tuesday evening. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Awe and family of Owen, Mrs. William Kuester and daughter, Loretta, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Kuester and daughter, Delores, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Liebzeit and family, Mrs. Elvera Fravert and children, Mrs. Olga Reineking and Elmer Humke.

The Forest Queen Royal Neighbors Camp met in the Zion United Church hall. Mrs. Walter Swieso presided. Mrs. O. J. Amundson acted as chancellor, Mrs. Caroline Seidl of Marshfield, district RNA deputy, gave a talk which covered the convention she attended at Holcombe recently. Mrs. Lawrence Cox gave the sunshine report. It was announced Mrs. Floyd Clintsman is a patient at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville. After the business meeting games were played and prizes were awarded to Mrs. Julia Koci and Mrs. Lawrence Cox. A lunch was served by Mrs. Edgar Opdyke and Mrs. Alma Mason.

Mr. and Mrs. Val Krainz and children, Larry and Ruth, of Willard, and Mr. and Mrs. John Kaltinger were guests Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Harbort in Bayfield.

Dinner guests Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Jake Speich were Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Vollrath of Caro, Mich., Mrs. Walter Rahm of Wilkinson, Ind., Mrs. George Vollrath and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Vollrath.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sanders of Ladysmith were guests at the Calvin Franz home from Monday until Thursday and attended the funeral of their nephew, Theodore Decker, on Tuesday.

The 81st birthday of William Kelty was celebrated Wednesday at the Clark County Home for the Aged.

Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Plunkett of Chippewa Falls were dinner guests Thursday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Plunkett. Weekend guests at the Plunkett home were Joseph Plunkett and family, Minneapolis.

David Pakiz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pakiz, who attends school in Superior, spent the weekend in Greenwood.

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Severson joined relatives in an outing at Miller’s Dam and Mondeau on Sunday.

The Adult Fellowship will meet Sunday evening in the Zion United Church hall. Hosts will be Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Wessel and Mr. and Mrs. Ewald Schwarze.

The American legion Auxiliary will meet in the Legion Hall Monday evening. Hostesses will be Mrs. Lee Larson, Mrs. Richard Larson, Mrs. Joseph Kohlnhofer, Mrs. George Clovis, Mrs. Erwin Kollsmanberger and Mrs. Archie Lyons.

The West Side Homemakers will be entertained Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Emma Hium. Mrs. Elery Moberg will present the lesson on “purchasing of food.”

A lutefisk and ham dinner will be served October 23, at our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Serving will begin at 4:30 p.m.

The 33rd annual meeting of stockholders of Co-operative services Clark County will be held tonight (Thursday) at 8:15 in the Greenwood High School gymnasium. Election of members to the board of directors will be held and other business will be transacted. A lunch will be served.

The senior citizens of the Greenwood area will meet this (Thursday) evening at 7 o’clock in the Clark Electric auditorium. Some business will be transacted. There will be fun and games for all. Members of the happy Hustlers Homemakers will be hostesses. Mrs. Francis Brey is chairman of the Greenwood area.

The Clark County Association for Retarded Children meeting will be held at 8:30 tonight (Thursday) in the Greenwood High School cafeteria.

The HI-Spades club was entertained Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. A. C. Buker.
