Alger, Peggy J. (14 AUG 1965)

Repeating marriage vows during a 10:30 o'clock wedding ceremony solemnized in St. Bernard's Catholic Church here Saturday, Aug. 14, 1965, were Miss Peggy J. Alger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund J. Alger, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Kenneth L. Maier, son of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Maier, Thorp.

Officiating at the ceremony, at which Edmund J. Alger gave his daughter in marriage, was Rev. Francis Brockman. Soloist was Mary Rosemeyer, accompanied on the organ by Sister Anelle and assisted by the junior choir.

The bride, carrying a cascade arrangement centered with a white Satelya orchid with white roses and carnations, wore a gown of organza over bridal taffeta with full skirt and chapel train. Seed pearls and Alencon lace embroidered in an elaborate motif, highlighted the fitted bodice with bateau neckline and long tapered sleeves. The embroidered design was repeated on Watteau panels accented with a bow on the back neckline. An organza Capulet secured her scalloped silk illusion veil.

Mrs. Lawrence Moskiewicz of Minneapolis, the matron of honor, Nancy Alger, sister-in-law of the bride, of St. Paul, Judy Hogden, La Crosse, and Beverly Stevens, Winter, friends of the bride, as bridesmaids, wore identical floor length gowns of white lace over orchid taffeta with Italian neckline, short sleeves and an orchid panel at the back waist. Their headpieces were of orchid taffeta bows styled with bouffant veils. They carried bouquets of carnations and orchid center.

Joanne Frinakc godchild of th bride, acted as junior bridesmaid and wore a gown identical to the bridesmaids, with Donnie Borton, nephew of the groom, as junior groomsman, who wore a tuxedo.

John A. Maier was his brother's best man. Roger Alger, Milwaukee, brother of the bride, Chuck Gustafson, Ladysmith, and Jack Brocktrup, Neenah, friends of the groom, acted as groomsmen. Ushers were Bill Alger, St. Paul, and Rick Alger, Thorp, brothers of the bride.

Mrs. Alger attended her daughter's wedding in a white lace and chiffon dress, with blue accessories. The groom's mother wore a two-piece blue lace dress with matching accessories. Each wore corsages of Cymbidium orchids.

A wedding dinner was served in St. Bernard's basement by the Christian Mothers Circle following the ceremony. A reception and dance were held at the Thorp Legion Hall.

The wedding cake was cut by Nancy Jenness of Eau Claire, friend of the bride. Nancy Schmidt of St. Paul recorded gifts.

Both young people are graduates of Thorp High School. Peggy is a graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing at La Crosse, and Kenneth a graduate of St. Norbert College at DePere, and is employed by Xerox Inc. The newlyweds are at home at 1926 East Marquette, Appleton, Wis.
