James H. Bowen, age 78, of 830 15th Street South, Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Pine Ridge Assisted Living, Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Memorial Services are 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. John Steiner will officiate. Memorial visitation will be held at Ritchay Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of services.

James was born December 31, 1934 in Neillsville, WI to Howard and Vera (Galbreath) Bowen. He married Carol Van Ert on June 1, 1963 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. James was employed at Consoweld in Wisconsin Rapids until its closing, then was employed at Consolidated Papers Inc. retiring in 1996.

James served in the U.S. Army from October 1958 until August 1962. He was a member of Antler Archers, enjoyed hunting and fishing and always enjoyed watching all Wisconsin sports.

James is survived by wife, Carol; son, Brad (Julie) Bowen of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; daughter Tami (David) Beyer of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; three grandchildren, Alyssa Beyer, Jessica Beyer and Myles Isenberger; and sister, Karen McLean.

James was preceded in death by his father, Howard Bowen, mother, Vera Barth, stepfather, Roy Barth and two brothers, John Bowen and Dennis Bowen.
