Gary D. Brandl, 62, of rural Manitowoc passed away following an eight-year battle with cancer, Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at his residence.

Gary was born Oct. 22, 1950, in Milwaukee to the late Clifford and Marilyn (McMurtrie) Ferry. He attended Washington High School in Two Rivers and completed his education from LTC. Gary served his country in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971. On March 5, 2007, Gary married Linda Ann Brandl at Kapalua Bay Beach in Hawaii. He was employed as a molding specialist at MCM Composites for the last 30 years. Gary was a very dedicated employee who loved his job and the people he worked with. He was very mechanically inclined and like figuring out how things work and fixing things. Most recently, Gary’s new adventure was taking pilot lesions to obtain his pilot license. He enjoyed restoring old vehicles, cooking and entertaining, dancing, rock ‘n roll music - especially Elvis, going to car shows and movies and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include Gary’s loving wife, Linda; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Jessi (Ferry) and Shane Renzelman, and Ashley (Ferry) and Dave Sheffer; five grandsons, Cylvin, Cale, Cadon, Corben and Landon; one brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Sally Jo Grant; two sisters and one brother-in-law; Sharon and David Mohr, and Debbie Witte; also nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Leon Brandl and Robert Witte.

The family greeted relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. At 4 p.m., a celebration of Gary’s life took place where family and friends were given the opportunity to share stories and memories of Gary. Immediately following, a luncheon was held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
