Goodell, Doris (1947)

Bombard-Goodell

October 11th was chosen as the wedding day of Miss Doris Goodell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Goodell, and Dale Bombard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Bombard, both of Loyal.

The couple repeated their vows standing beneath an arch covered with yellow and heavenly delight roses before the Rev. Raymond Fleming, who also united the grooms parents into Holy Wedlock twenty-five years ago the same day.

The bride was given in marriage by her father at a five o’clock candlelight service at the bride’s home. She wore a white satin dress with a sweetheart neckline, lace inset sleeves. Her finger-tip veil fell from a beaded crown. She carried a small Bible, which the groom carried while he served in World War II. On the cover was a small nosegay of white carnations, heavenly delight roses and lilies-of-the-valley backed by lace. Her only jewelry was a gold locket, a gift of the groom.

She was attended by Mrs. Fred Yaeger, sister of the groom, as maid of honor and Mrs. Paul Sill, sister of the bride, as bridesmaid. They wore identical gowns of pink and blue brocaded taffeta and carried fan-shaped bouquets of Pom Poms and forget-me-nots. They also wore forget-me-nots in their hair with ribbons to match the bouquets. Their matching ear rings were gifts of the bride.

The groom was attended by Fred Yeager and Paul Sill. The men all wore brown suits. The groom wore a white carnation in his lapel and his attendants wore white Pom Poms.

At six o’clock a wedding dinner was served to 25 guests. The three tier wedding cake standing on a silver stand with three candles on each side and callia [sic] lillies [sic] laying at its base, centered the table.

Streamers of white, blue, yellow, pink, orchid and green centered by a white bell decorated the dinning [sic] room, while silver bells centered the living room and front room streamers.

The bride’s mother wore a green dress with gold nail head trimming and a corsage of white Pom Poms with gold ribbon. The groom’s mother wore a blue dress with white Pom Poms and silver ribbon for her corsage.

Over one hundred guests were entertained at a reception at eight o’clock. Those from out of town who were present were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Beardmore Vivian and Melvin of Caledonia, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Howard Beardmore Dale and Marion of Lansing, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Nelson, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. J. M. Westerley, Ottosen, Iowa; Mrs. Al Thurnson, West Bend, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wilson and family and Floyd Stoebe of Odin, Minn.; Frank Stoebe of Triumph, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Young, New Albin, Iowa; and relatives and friends from Marshfield, Wausau, Loyal, Spencer, Stratford, Auburndale, Colby and Neillsville.

The young couple will spend a few days weddingtrip in northern Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa and after November 1st they will be at home on the grooms farm, Loyal, R-1.

Four showers were given in honor of the couple. They were given by Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schultz, and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Gehrke, Mrs. Fred Yaeger, classmates and friends of the bride, and Mrs. Calvin Beardmore.

The Record joins their many local friends in extending congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy wedded life.
