Riedel, Mr./Mrs. Gerhardt (Gold – 1 Jun 1977)

Mr. and Mrs. Gerhardt Riedel, Colby, where were married June 1, 1927 by the Rev. Ray Ploetz at St. John’s Lutheran parsonage in Nasonville, celebrated their golden anniversary recently.

The couple greeted guests at an open house from 2 – 5 p.m. at the Village Plaza in Spencer.

For the event the couple wore a yellow rose corsage and a rose boutonniere. Attendants at the original wedding were Idell Gepner, who was present for the affair, and the late Herman Riedel.

Riedel received his education in the county schools. At an early age he learned the cheese making trade from his uncles, the late Adolph and Gust Voight.

Mrs. Riedel, the former Viorine Jeanette Mundt, received her education in the Chili schools and graduated from the Neillsville Training Department in 1924, and then taught school in Clark County.

After their marriage the couple spen the next 35 years in Wood and Marathon Counties owning and operating cheese factories, the last one being the Four Corners Cheese Factory in Clark County.

They are now retired and lived in Colby. Both are in good health. Riedel enjoys hunting and fishing, while his wife keeps busy with gardening, flowers and fancy work. They have two sons, Duane R., Neillsville, and Rodney G., Oak Creek. There are five grandchildren.

Among the guests were relatives from Illinois, Ohio and many cities in Wisconsin.

Sharon Dahlke and Jeff Reyzer were united in marriage Saturday, June 11, 1977 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby.

Performing the 1:30 p.m. ceremony was the Rev. Francis Rushman.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Dahlke, Route 1, Colby, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Reyzer, Route 1, Curtiss.

The bride wore a gown of silk organza. The bodice was trimmed with beading and Venice lace. A ruffle of Kluny lace bordered the hemline and encircled the full chapel train. A Juliet cap covered in matching lace was attached to a fingertip length veil.

Dawn Podevels, cousin of the bride, Colby, was maid of honor. Debbie Betzner, cousin of the bridegroom, Curitss, Rhonda Dahlke, niece of the bride, Colby, and Cindy Dahlke, sister-in-law of the bride, Colby, were attendants. They wore green, pink, blue and yellow polyester gowns. The gowns featured spaghetti straps with floral knee length capes worn over the dresses.

Attending the bridegroom was best man Joe Reyzer, Jr., Curtiss. Attendants were La Ron Hoppenworth, Edgar, Tom Newmann, Curtiss, and Donny Betzner, Edgar. Ring bearer was Russell Dahlke, cousin of the bride, Colby. Ushers were Jerry Dahlke, Abbotsford, and Lance Reyzer, Lublin.

A reception and dance followed the ceremony at the Trianon Ballroom.

Miss Polzin is a 1977 graduate of Abbotsford High School. Her fiancé graduated in 1976 from Colby High School.

Wedding plans are indefinite.

Donna M. Eicher and Dale L. Lenser, both of Waukesha, were married Saturday, June 4, 1977.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Orville Lenser, Abbotsford, and Donald Eicher, Nashotah, and Judy Trevino, Eagle River.

The Rev. Leroy Anderson performed the candlelight service at Galilee Lutheran Church, Pewaukee. A reception followed at the Eagles Club in Waukesha.

The couple will live in Waukesha.

Janice K. Zimmerman, Chippewa Falls, and Jeffrey Thompson, Bloomington, Minnesota, were married Saturday, June 11, 1977 at the Nazareth Hall Chapel, Northwestern College, Roseville, Minnesota.

The Rev. David L. Larson of the First Covenant Church performed the 2 p.m. marriage service.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Ethan Zimmerman, Route 2, Unity, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thompson, Bloomington, Minnesota.

An ivory knit gown with long tapered sleeves was born by the bride. Accenting the gown was a high neckline of appliqued net. The sleeves were trimmed in lace. She wore a fingertip veil trimmed with matching lace; attached to a Camelot headpiece. She carried a bouquet of ivory and apricot silk roses with baby’s breath.

Maid of honor was Mrs. Karen Arndt, Medford. Bridesmaids were Jodi Thompson, Minneapolis and Charlene Edblom, Eau Claire.

The halter styled apricot gowns were worn with floral chiffon capes. They carried apricot carnations, white daisies, silk bud roses and baby’s breath with lace streamers.

Dan Zimmerman, Bird Island, Minnesota, brother of the bride, was best man. Groomsmen were Dr. Perry Arndt, Medford, and Douglas Johnson, Minneapolis. Ushers were E. David Larson and Randy Swanson, both of Minneapolis.

A reception followed the ceremony in the Blue Room.

The bride is a 1972 Colby High School graduate. She graduated from NCTI as a registered nurse in 1975. The bridegroom will attend Bible College in the fall.

Marcos Island, Florida was the location chose by Lou Anne Wepfer and Steven D. Klefstad to exchange vows during a 10 a.m. gulf side civil ceremony on Saturday, June 4, 1977.

Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Myron Wepfer, Abbotsford, and the bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Klefstad, Northbrook, Illinois.

The bride wore a dress of white Challis, sewed by herself, and carried a bouquet of 12 long stemmed roses interspersed with baby’s breath.

Attendants for the wedding were the grandparents of the groom, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Cluever and Mr. and Mrs. Sivert Klefstad.

After a Florida honeymoon, the Klefstads are at home at 2512 N. Richmond Street, Chicago, Illinois.

Baptism sponsors were Barbara Rannow and Charles Jantsch. A buffet dinner was served at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Rannow.

Guests included the sponsors, the Rev. and Mrs. Robin Fink, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Strasser, Wausau, and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Rannow.

Theodore Roosevelt National Memorial Park, the Bad Lands, Black Hills, Mount Rushmore, National Memorial Park and Sioux Indian Culture Center.
