Krenz, Norman F. (22 December 1919 – 26 January 2007) With Flag 

Norman F. Krenz, age 87, of Black River Falls, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007 in the Family Heritage Care Center in Black River Falls. 

Norman was born on Dec. 22, 1919, in Fall Creek.  He was raised on the family farm just outside of Fall Creek. 

He graduated from Fall Creek High School in 1937 where he excelled in sports. He was captain of the 1937 championship basketball team.  He attended college at UW-Eau Claire where he played both varsity baseball and basketball. 

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1941.  He accepted a teaching and coaching position in Bayfield in the fall of 1941.  After teaching for a year, he enlisted and served 3 ˝ years in the U. S. Air Force during World War II.  Two of those three years were spent in the Asiatic Theater on the Island of Attu.  

Norman returned to his teaching job in Bayfield in 1945, and he married the former Eleanor H. Danz of Ashland, on Aug. 11, 1946.  The couple lived in Bayfield until 1947 when they moved to Black River Falls where Norm accepted a position as science teacher and head coach of all sports.

In 1949, Norman was appointed high school principal.  He earned his Master’s degree in administration from the UW-Madison in 1952.  He served as principal and administrator for 34 years.  

Norman was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Black River Falls.  He served as a Sunday school teacher and president of the congregation.   

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and sports.  He was an active member of the community.  He was a member of the Lion’s Club, the Black River Memorial Hospital Board, the Skyline Golf Course, and he coached Little League. 

Surviving are his wife Eleanor, two sons, Bill (Sherry) Krenz, Colorado Springs, Co; Bob Krenz, Turtle Lake, a daughter, Linda (Scott) Nicastro, Mondovi; six grandchildren, Alison and Kitty Nicastro; Tracey, Travis, Tyler, and Tara Reginek; and four great-grandchildren, Rachel Krenz, Isabelle, Collin and Maguel Reginek. 

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jule Stabenow and Henry Krenz; six sisters Lydia Long, Lizette “Sade” Helgeson, Adela Dale, Esther Akin, Gertrude Johnson and Sylvia Dedrickson. 

Funeral services for Norman F. Krenz were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, from ST. John’s Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, 351 W. Jefferson St. Black River Falls.  Pastor Steven Stork will officiate and burial with military honors will be in Riverside Cemetery, Black River Falls.  Relatives and friends may call at Torgerson’s Funeral Home (715-284-4321) 408 N. Water St. Black River Falls on Monday from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
