Sanders, Pat W. (11 September 1974 – 14 January 2002)

Pat Sanders, age 27, of Neillsville, WI died in a car accident, Monday, January 14th, 2002.

Pat W. Sanders was born on September 11, 1974 in Black River Falls, WI the son of Steven and Melinda (Tennant) Sanders. While living in Humbird, WI he attended school in Fairchild to the fifth grade and then graduated from Alma Center High School.

After graduation he worked on the Jack Counsell farm in Neillsville for a short time and then moved to Minneapolis, MN where he apprenticed in marble flooring. Later, he moved back to Neillsville, lived with the Larry and Lynette Engevold family and worked at Leeson Electric in Black River Falls for three years. Pat also worked with his brother, Steve, at PVZ in Little Chute, WI, installing piping for heating and air conditioning and ventilation. Pat then attended the Oklahoma Farrier College in Sperry, OK. After completing his course work he moved back to Neillsville and operated “Pat Sanders Professional Farrier Service”, doing normal and corrective shoeing and trimming and general hoof care in Duluth, MN and central Wisconsin. Along with his Farrier business, Pat also worked with and was in partnership with Larry and Lynette Engevold operating Wilderness Pursuit, a trail riding business in Neillsville.

Pat loved his family especially his nieces and nephews; he loved taking them hiking and shopping. His second loves were martial arts, which he began at the age of eleven, and had become a master of by the time he graduated high school, and horseback riding. He also loved fast cars, fast trucks and loud music.

He is survived by his father, Steve (Linda) Sanders of Hatfield, WI; his mother, Melinda (Ken Durst) Sanders of Neillsville; his “Mom” Lynette (Larry) Engevold of Neillsville; three brothers, Steve (Rhonda) Sanders and their children, Sloane, Leslie and Taylor of Humbird, Scott (Lorrie) Sanders and their children, Nicole Mariah and Brandon of Humbird and Travis (Carrie) Sanders and his son Michael and future son,??? of Eau Claire, WI.; His grandparents, Frances and Howard Sanders of Humbird and Wilma Miller of Merrillan, WI; His “honorary sisters”, Amber (Steve Cundy) Engevold of Horicon, WI and Jessi (Brian Fischer) Engevold of Neillsville. Pat is also survived by “his kids”, Cretia, Steven “Little tree” and Brianna, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a grandfather, William Tennant; two uncles, Mike and Bill Tennant and a cousin, Travis Sheffer.

A Memorial Service for Pat will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2002 at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Kevin Hanke will officiate. Music will be provided by Eileen Zank, organist. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday and from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday at the Gesche Funeral Home.

Honorary Casket Bearers are: Alex Attalsy, Brian Begert, Mark Begert, Alan Buchholz, Jim Cornwall, Julie Nussbaum, Hung Pham, Scott Quicker, Gregg Sanders and Russ Kandler.

The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Pat’s family with arrangements.
