Roman C. Brandt, 92, Marshfield, died Wed., Dec. 10, 2008, at Saint Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care, Marshfield.

Arrangements are pending at Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI), Marshfield.

Roman C. Brandt, 92, of Marshfield died Wed., Dec. 10, 2008, at Saint Joseph's Palliative Care Unit at Saint Joseph's Hospital.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Sat. Dec. 13, 2008, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, with the Rev. Don Meuret officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with James, Scott, Michael Brandt, Mark Brandt, Jim Tremelling and Kevin Leick serving as the pallbearers. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the American Legion Post No. 54 of Marshfield.

Visitations will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Fri. at Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI) and again Sat. at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of the services. There will be a combined rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Fri. at the funeral home with the Knights of Columbus and the Parish. Roman was born May 10, 1916, in Marshfield to August and Minnie (Hardinger) Brandt. He attended St. John's Parochial School. He was united in marriage to Margaret M. Adamski on May 4, 1946, at St. John's Catholic Church. She died May 21, 1998.

In July 1936, he began working at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory. Roman was drafted into the U.S. Army on Dec. 22, 1942. He took basic training at Fort Lewis, Wash., then was stationed in the Hawaiian Island, New Guinea, Philippines and Europe, returning home in November 1945. In 1953, Roman became affiliated with Brandt Bros. Oil Co., retiring in 1981.

Roman and his brother Charles started and owned Spencer Bowl in Spencer from 1962 until 1972. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing cards and bingo.

He is survived by a son, Douglas (Sue) Brandt of Marshfield; two daughters, Kathleen (Craig) Wegener of New Berlin and Cindy Kay (Jeffrey) Nikolai of Marshfield; five grandchildren, James (Melissa) Brandt, Scott (Jenny) Brandt, Michael Brandt, Erin Buraglio and Brandon Nikolai; three great-grandchildren, Payton, Carter and Carson Brandt. Roman is further survived by two brothers, Linus (Marian) Brandt of Marshfield and A. Daniel (Gerrie) Brandt of Milwaukee; and a sister, Florence (Melvin) Wilke of Wausau; one brother-in-law, Gilbert Leick of Stratford; and four sisters-in-law Marie Brandt and Grace Kubs, both of Marshfield, Evelyn Kasperlik of Grandville, Mich., and Constance Otto of Milwaukee.

Roman was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret; a daughter, Susan Alkhoudairy; four brothers, Charles, Leander, Jerome and Clarence Brandt; four sisters, Irene Leick, Eleanor Tremelling, Inez Kenyon and Frances Craft.
