Kohel, Ben (4 Nov. 1899 - 25 Sept. 1944)

Two men were injured at 6:55 this morning when a car driven by Ben Kohel and a school bus driven by Keeley Baierl of Auburndale collided at the intersection of County Trunk K and Keefer road about two miles east of Auburdale.

Kohel and his son Robert were driving east from their home in the town of Milladore on their way to work at Marshfield, and Baierl was driving the empty bus north on County Trunk K.

The two Kohels were taken to St. Joseph’s hospital at Marshfield where they are now under physician’s case. Robert Kohel received a badly smashed nose and deep facial lacerations and his father sustained a skull fracture. Extent of the injuries other than the skull fracture could not be determined by physicians at the present time and he is reported to have but partially regained consciousness at noon today.

Baierl, the driver of the school bus, was severely shaken but otherwise is uninjured. The bus was damaged on the night front end and landed in a ditch after the impact. The Kohel car received extensive Damages to the front and interior, but remained on the highway. The school bus is owned by James Keefer of Auburndale.
