LUMAN D. WOOD, engineer, Marshfield, son of Edmond and Huldah Burtcli Wood, was born at Brownstown, Mich., March 20, 1848. His father, who was a master mechanic and millwright, moved to Wis. in 1851, and settled at Omro, where he lived until 1861, then to Berlin until 1876, then to California. The son, L. D. Wood, enlisted in Co. F, 3d Wis. Vols., February, 1864, and received his discharge, 28th of June, 1865. He was detailed as hospital steward most of the time while in the army. After the war, worked with his father as a carpenter, then learned engineering. He was married, in 1871, to Miss Matilda Rumble, of Uniontown, Pa. They have one child living, Ida. Mr. Wood is a member of the Temple of Honor, also of the Good Templars.
