Weisenberger, Leander “Lee” C. (21 Mar 1918 - 18 Nov 1996)
Leander “Lee” C. Weisenberger, 78, of 613 S. Cherry Ave. died at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice Care Unit where he had been admitted on Sun.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Fri. at Faith Lutheran Church. The Rev. Gary Hedding, pastor, will officiate. Music will be provided by William Allen, soloist, and Maldon Plank, organist. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends and relatives following the memorial services at the church.
Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Weisenberger was born March 21, 1918, in Marathon City, to Ferdinand and Elizabeth (Fochs) Weisenberger. He married Helen Osborne on Feb. 28, 1942 and she died two years after the marriage. He then married June Beseler on Aug. 3, 1946 at her parent’s home in Marshfield. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Aug. 3, 1996.
As a child he moved to Wausau with his parents. After his education, he was employed as a meat cutter in Tomahawk and Wausau. Following the death of his first wife, he moved to Marshfield and was employed by Felkers as a welder and layout man for 15 years. He then became a partner in Beseler Steel Products until his retirement. Following retirement, he owned and operated a camping and snowmobile shop in Marshfield until 1971. He and his wife traveled throughout the United States, spending their winters in the Southern states.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, June Weisenberger of Marshfield; children, Nancy (Elmer) Martens of Hewitt, Ann (John) Weigel of Marshfield and Tom (Sharon) Weisenberger of Pardeeville; 10 grandchildren, Jeff (Irene) Martens of Wisconsin Rapids, Terry (Tom) Kongslien of Hewitt, Tammy (Tim) Burr of Wisconsin Rapids, Heidi Weigel, of Shawano, Scott, Chris, Curt and Corey Weigel, all of Marshfield, and Rebecca and Matthew Weisenberger of Pardeeville; six great-grandchildren, Amanda, Ashlyn, Ross, Tyler, April and Tiffany.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Alex Weisenberger.
Memorials in his name may be designated to the family, who will establish a memorial at a later date.
