Buttke, Dorothy M. (15 May 1924 - 29 Sept. 1994)

Dorothy M. Buttke, 70, of 2608 Maywood Ave., died at 11 a.m. Sept. 29, 1994, at her residence.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sun. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Revs. John W. Schenck and Gary M. Albert officiating. Juliann Baxter will be soloist and organist for congregational singing.

Burial will be in Brooklawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, town of Richfield, Wood County. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be at Rembs/Kundinger Chapel from 4-9 p.m. Sat.and then at the church from 12:30 p.m. until service time Sun.

She was born May 15, 1924, in Sheboygan Falls, to Alfred and Esther (Schwantes) Gehrke. She attended parochial elementary school in Clintonville and was a graduate of Clintonville High School.

She was married to Harry R. Buttke on May 23, 1942, at Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Richfield. Her husband was a 31-year employee of the U.S. Postal Service in Marshfield. He died June 22, 1981.

After her marriage, she resided in Marshfield, where she was employed on a part-time basis at Karau’s Super-Market for many years. She also was employed at Central State Bank in Marshfield until her retirement because of ill health. She struggled for many years courageously battling rheumatoid arthritis. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and active in many groups within the church. She was also a member of Al-Anon and the Athritis Foundation.

Survivors include two sons, Rich (Karyn) Buttke and Tom (Terri) Buttke of Marshfield; three daughters, Dottie (Dave) Peterson of Maple Grove, Minn., Renie (Jim) Grall of Wausau and Cathy (John) Tauschek of Marshfield; two sisters, Gerrie (Charles) Florence of Loyal and Gloria (George) Florence of Pittsville; 12 grandchildren, Dave, Steve and Mark Peterson, Scott, Andy and Jim Grall, Mike and Jennifer Buttke, Sara Rae and Tim Buttke and Amy Tauschek; and four great-grandchildren, Lianna, Michael and Joseph Mueller and Christopher Grall.

She was predeceased by her parents and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Peterson.

Memorials may be given in her name to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
