Peterson, Garry J. (18 May 1938 - 16 Mar. 2009)

Garry J. Peterson, 70, of Marshfield, died at 5 p.m. Mon., March 16, 2009, at the Marshfield Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Fri., March 20, 2009, at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, Marshfield. The Rev John Trewyn will officiate. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield. The family will be accepting relatives and friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thur. at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, where a Masonic Ritual will be held at 7 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to service time at the funeral home on Fri..

Mr. Peterson was born May 18, 1938, in Chili, Wisconsin. Garry was born to Peter and Adeline (Neinas) Peterson. He graduated from Marshfield Senior High School in 1957.

Garry was united in holy marriage to the former Rosemary Nehring on Sept. 19, 1959, at the First Presbyterian Church in Marshfield.

Mr. Peterson worked for Roddis Plywood, Weyerhaeuser and retired from Marshfield Door Systems in 2004.

Garry was a member of the Specialty Car Club. He was also a ham radio operator.

Garry was very generous and was always there for his children. He will be remembered for his hard work and beautiful smile. He especially enjoyed his pet dogs and visiting with family and friends.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Rosemary Peterson, Marshfield; two sons, Allen "Al" Peterson, Soldotna, Alaska, and Brian Peterson, Wausau; three sisters, Lola O'Brien, Evelyn Muir and Dolores (Stanley) Madler; two sisters-in-law, Ilene Peterson and Olive Peterson; one brother-in-law, James Nehring; as well as many friends. He will truly be missed.

Besides his parents, Peter and Adeline, two brothers, Delmore "Del" and Lawrence "Bud" preceded Garry in death.

A memorial in Garry's name will be established at a later date.
