Wernberg, Ruth M. (19 Oct. 1917 - 22 Apr. 1999)

Ruth M. Wernberg, 81, of 7858 Richfield Dr., Arpin, died at 2:05 p.m. April 22, 1999, in the hospice unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital where she had been admitted on April 21.

Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Mon. at Hansen’s Funeral Chapel with Pastor Paul Nelson and Pastor Roy D. Williams, officiating.

Burial will take place in the North Arpin Free Church Cemetery in the town of Richfield. Pallbearers will be Karl and Leif Wallin, Torey, Ben and Sam Wernberg, Floyd Schoen, Dennis Wolf and Jerry Mannigel.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sun.and again after 12:30 p.m. Mon., both at the funeral chapel.

Memorials may be designated to the home hospice program of St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Mrs. Wernberg was born Oct. 19, 1917, in New Richmond, the daughter of Charles and Minnie (nee Kanbbe) Brey. She received her elementary education in the town of Richfield and was a graduate of McKinley High School in Marshfield. She was married to Roy Wernberg on Nov. 28, 1935. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1985.

After their marriage, the couple lived in the town of Richfield where Mr. Wernberg was employed by the Wood County High Department.

Ruth was a member of the former North Arpin Church and its Ladies Aid and the Specialty Car Enthusiasts Club.

She is survived by her children, Werner (Toni) Wernberg of Clintonville; Gayle Wernberg of Arpin; Lance Wernberg of Arpin; Korlis (Knute) Wallin of Greenwood; Ryan Wernberg of Arpin and Rob (Catherine) Wernberg of Dorchester. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Wendy Crisci, Amy Wernberg, Karl and Leif Wallin, Ben, Sam, Luke and Zachary Wernberg, Stacy Schoen, Torey Wernberg and Josh and Matt Krauter, and her great-grandchildren, Suzanne, Shelly and Dustin Schoen, Evay Roy and Aaron Wernberg and Alexandra Krauter.

In addition to her husband, Roy, who died on March 29, 1989, she was predeceased by a grand-child, Eric Wernberg, a sister, Helen Sell, and a brother, Charles Brey, Jr.
