Rokus, Helen A. (12 Oct. 1956 - 28 Oct. 2008)

Helen A. Rokus, 72, of Marshfield died Tues. morning, Oct. 28, 2008, at the Golden Horizons Assisted Living Center, with her family by her side and under the tender care of Ministry Home Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Fri. Oct. 31, 2008, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. The Rev. Don Meuret will officiate. Burial will be in the St. James Catholic Cemetery, Vesper.

Mrs. Rokus was born Oct. 12, 1936, in Chicago, a daughter of Michael and Agnes Kriegler. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1954 and later attended UW-Stout.

On Nov. 24, 1956, at St. John's Catholic Church in Bloomer, Helen was united in holy marriage to Richard A. Rokus. He preceded Helen in death on Feb. 6, 2007.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Helen was employed as a cook at the St. Alphonsus Hospital in Port Washington until the time of her retirement. Because of ill health she came to the Marshfield area to be near family.

Helen was a gourmet cook; she also enjoyed sewing, knitting and craftwork.

She is lovingly survived by her children, David Rokus, Port Washington, Susan (Richard) Pohlod, Marshfield, Rena Rokus, Milwaukee, and Richard (Cindy) Rokus, Pewaukee. Eight grandchildren, Kathleen, Nicole, Jennifer, Allison, Katlyn and Abigail Rokus, Sarah and Nicholas Pohlod also survive Helen.

A memorial will be established in Helen's name at a later date.
