Koenig, Sharon P. (7 Aug. 1937 - 3 Oct. 1990)

Services for Sharon P. (Mrs. John W.) Koenig, 53, of 714 S. Cypress Ave., who died at 5:48 p.m. Wed. in the Emergency Room of St. Joseph’s Hospital, will be at 10:30 a.m. Sat. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

The Rev. Francis A. Wavra will officiate. Mrs. Helen Brinkmann will be the organist, and William A. Allen will be the soloist. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Betty A. Ptacek, Patricia A. Gallatin, Dorothy M. Halle, Carolyn Jo Sokolowski, Eleanor Miranda and Choon Ja Hassenfang. Patricia LeGrand will be an honorary pallbearer.

Visitation will be at Rembs/Kundinger Chapel at 4 p.m. today and until service time Sat. A Knights of Columbus rosary service will be at 7:30 tonight followed by a parish prayer service combined with a Parish Council of Catholic Women service at 7:45, both at the funeral home.

She was born Aug. 7, 1937, in Escanaba, Mich., to Michael W. and Gertrude E. (LaChapelle) Gallagher. She moved as a child to La Crosse with her parents and then later to Marshfield. She attended Sacred Heart Parochial School and St. John’s Parochial School and was a 1955 graduate of Columbus High School. After her education, she was employed by Marshfield Clinic until her marriage.

She was married to John W. Koenig July 19, 1958, at St. John’s Catholic Church. She and her husband continued to reside in Marshfield. Her husband is president of Prince Corp.

She was a former commissioner of the Marshfield Community Development Authority and a former parent volunteer of Our Lady of Peace Parochial School and Columbus High School. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and the Parish Council of Catholic Women.

She is survived by her husband; her mother of Marshfield; three daughters, Mrs. Tim (Marie) Pucker of Granton, Mrs. Ed (Jennifer) Bauman of Marshfield and Katherine Koenig, Viterbo College, La Crosse; three sons, Curt of Sheboygan, Keith of King George, Va., and Ken of Green Bay; one sister, Kathleen Allen of Austin, Texas; one brother, Dan Gallagher of Nekoosa; and five grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her father on Dec. 1, 1978.

Memorials may be given in her name to Columbus High School Scholarship Fund, the University of Wisconsin Center, Marshfield-Wood County arboretum, or Our Lady of Peace Father Dillenburg Memorial Fund.
