Gelinskey, Gladys Julia (Rezutek) (September 18, 1935 - January 3, 2012)

Gladys Julia (Rezutek) Gelinskey, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 after another courageous battle with cancer. Mom dealt with adversity, like all things in her life, without complaining and with a positive attitude.

She was born on September 18, 1935 to the late Peter and Mary (Labandz) Rezutek in Rib Lake.

Mom was born on a farm, the "baby" of 11 children. Her sister, Helen, never let her forget that as the "baby" she had to do a lot less work. She graduated from Rib Lake High School in 1953 and moved to Milwaukee where she lived with her brother while working for the electric company.

She met and married Donald Gelinskey in Cudahy on October 26, 1957.

Mom was a wonderful stay at home mother. She took excellent care of her three children, making sure they always had great school lunches, help with their homework, and support for whatever they wanted to do. She was good and kind and had a generous soul. She was a great cook and baker. She could bake a mean apple pie and was always ready to share it with company.

Mom loved to polka and she was not picky who her partners were, she would dance with anyone. Mom also had a green thumb. She loved working in her flower garden and could make anything grow and she was especially good at bringing back to life "almost dead" plants that her kids would bring home. Mom loved animals especially her three dogs, Barney, Tiki and Punkin' who have waited patiently for her to arrive in heaven so they can all go for another walk.

Mom is survived by her husband of 54 years, Don; children, Scott (Shirl) Manchester, Dan (Davi) Princeton, and the "baby," Donelle (Blaine Laumer) Neenah; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters, Angeline Gerstberger and Helen Osimitz, and two brothers, Henry and Adam Rezutek, and her special nieces, Gladys Katzfey and Jean Gerstberger. She is further survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and numerous friends and the "church ladies."

Preceding Mom in death were her brothers: Anton, Benedict, Bruno, Julius, Stephen, and Walter; sisters-in-law; Edna, Emmy, and Shirley and brothers-in-law; Otto Gerstberger and Don Osimitz.
