Hahn, Raye "Sam" Ervin (April 26, 1941 - March 18, 2011)


Raye "Sam" Ervin Hahn, 69, Town of Hill, died on Friday, March 18 at his home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 24 at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Ogema, with Rev. Bob Giese officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Ogema, with full military honors conducted by the Ogema American Legion Post No. 407. Pallbearers are Mike Przyblski, Paul Lobacz, Joe Lobacz, Pete Lobacz, Sam Lobacz, Eric Czerniak and Tyler Phillips.


Raye Hahn was born on April 26, 1941 in Ogema to the late Ervin and Florence (Carlson) Hahn.

He attended Ogema Grade School and was a 1959 graduate of Prentice High School. He entered the United States Army in 1961 and served with the 32nd Infantry Red Arrow Division until 1964, He achieved the rank of sergeant and received the Men of the North Pin.


In September 1966 in Ogema, he married Charlotte Arnold, and they later divorced.

On July 24, 1976 at First Lutheran Church in Ogema, he married Eileen Rae Cattanach, who survives. They lived in Milwaukee where he was a parts manager at Hiller Ford in Hales Corners. They moved to Merrill where he was employed at Wire Products Mfg. Corp. They moved back to Ogema and he was employed at Hurd Millwork, Larson Pallet and Tombstone Pizza, retiring in 1990.


He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Spirit American Legion Post No. 452 and Ogema American Legion Post No. 407. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting pool and watching racing, including midget and stock car racing.


In addition to his wife, Eileen, survivors include six children, Beverly Phillips of Provo, Utah, Keith (Ruth) Hahn of Orem, Utah, Mary (Ed) Lobacz of Unity, Deborah (Doug) Brost of Medford, Jean (Brad) Czerniak of Athens, and Thomas (Linda) Przybylski of Prentice; 17 grandchildren, Ashley Hahn, Aubrey and Tyler Phillips, Megan, Brittney and Jenna Hahn, Paul and Amy Lobacz, Joseph, Peter and Sam Lobacz, Casey Brost, Eric and Amber Czerniak, Lisa, Katie and Mike Przybylski and Megan Rohland; four great-grandchildren; a niece and a nephew; and other relatives and friends.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Przyblski; a brother, Robert; and an infant sister.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his honor may be given to the family to be designated at a later date.

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
