Faber, Norbert E. (September 20, 1917 - February 7, 2011)

Norbert E. Faber, 93, Merrill, died Monday, Feb. 7 at Bell Tower Residence in Merrill.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 10 at 1 p.m. at Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence, with Rev. Joseph Dietrich officiating. Burial will be held in the spring at St. Andrew's Church Cemetery in the Town of Goodrich.


Visitation will be held at the chapel on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.


Norbert Faber was born on September 20, 1917 to the late Peter and Leone (Marschner) Faber.


On December 11, 1943 in the Town of Goodrich he married Myrtle Fischer, who preceded him in death on October 21, 2006.

They dairy farmed in the Town of Goodrich for 45 years. He also logged and did custom farm work for his neighbors. After retiring from farming in 1980, they moved to Woodruff where they lived until 2004 when they moved to Merrill.


He was a longtime member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed deer shining, deer hunting, fishing, especially ice fishing, gardening, picking berries, traveling, driving the country roads throughout Wisconsin and Michigan, visiting relatives, his Dodge vehicles and good jokes.


Survivors include four daughters, Sheryl Faber of Black Canyon, Ariz., Judith (Don Grant) Faber of Wasilla, Alaska, Janice Faber of Anchorage, Alaska, and Yvonne (Mark) Hedges of Merrill; four sons, Gary (Eileen) of Anchorage, Russell (Karen) of Merrill, Randall (Barb Willie) of Colorado and Nathan of the Town of Browning; a sister, Carol (Elmer) Reimann of Medford; three brothers, Everett (Marion) and Gene, both of Medford, and James (Donna) of Gad; three sisters-in-law, Theresia Faber and Jacqueline Faber, both of Medford, and Rose Faber of Washington; a brother-in-law, Lyle Dahl; good friend, Paul Braunstein of Woodruff; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Rodney and Kevin; a granddaughter, Hailey Faber; a sister, Berneta Dahl; four brothers, Peter, Harley, Willard and Robert; and two sisters-in-law, Betty and Estelle Faber.
