-Rossman, Julius J. (1885? - 24 MAR 1948)

Julius J. Rossman, 62, route 1, Gilman, was fatally injured last Wednesday when a reconverted jeep, being used as a tractor, crushed him against the wall of his garage. Mr. Rossman, despite his wife’s efforts to free him in time, died soon after being extricated from between the garage wall and the front of the vehicle.

Rossman, apparently unaware that the tractor was in gear, cranked the vehicle in an effort to start it. The motor caught and the tractor moved forward, crushing him against the garage wall.

Mrs. Katherine Rossman, his wife, heard his cry for help and rushed to the garage, where after approximately one-half hour of frenzied work, succeeded in freeing him from between the tractor and the wall of the garage. Mrs. Rossman was forced to saw away a portion the wall in order to free him. After helping him to the house, Mrs. Rossman called a doctor from Gilman, but Rossman died soon after his arrival.
