Slate, Suzanne “Sue” E. (May 15, 1956 - February 25, 2009)

Suzanne "Sue" E. Slate, 52, Rib Lake, died Wednesday, Feb. 25 at her residence surrounded by her family and Hope Hospice.

Memorial services are pending. Interment will be at St. Hubert's Cemetery in Star Lake, N.Y.

Suzanne Slate was born May 15, 1956 in Fine, N.Y. to Derlen P. and Marie G. (La Londe) Slate.

She attended schools in Upstate New York, Jefferson Community College in New York for nursing, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs for psychology, and school in Florida where she received her PhD in child psychology.

After school she moved to Kenosha where she did her internship in Illinois. In 2000 she moved to the Rib Lake/Medford area where she worked for Elmer Green and Associates in Wausau. She then became certified and owned and operated Sue's Psychological Services in Medford until ill health forced her retirement.

She enjoyed all animals, especially her horses, being outdoors, gardening, playing guitar and trumpet, and listening to music.

Survivors include her mother, Marie G. Slate of Upstate New York; her significant other, Stan Baldys of Medford; a daughter, Nicole (fiance Rod Dassow) Slate of Medford; two brothers, Jim (Elaine) of Kentucky and Dave (Becky) of Upstate New York; a sister, Brenda (Harvey) Stenger of Upstate New York; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father; and two sons in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her name be made to Gentle Hearts or Hope Hospice.
