Gruber, Alvin V. (June 4, 1905)

 

“Sons And Daughters Of The Congregation Who Entered The Teaching Ministry”

Alvin V. Gruber, son of Edmund and Mathilda (Schield) Gruber, of Medford, was born at Merrill on June 4, 1905.

He attended Northwestern College at Watertown from 1921-24, Concordia Teachers College from 1924-26; Stevens Point Normal School during the summer of 1926; University of Wisconsin Extension course, evenings in 1928; The University of Illinois in 1929; The University of Pennsylvania in 1933 and Pratt Institute during 1935.

He taught Lutheran parochial schools during the following years and places: St. John’s in Merrill, Wisconsin from 1924-25; Immanuel in Marshfield, Wisconsin from 1925-27 and St. John’s in Burr Oak, Wisconsin from 1927-28.

On July 14, 1929, he was married to miss Dorothy H. Eggert of Medford, This marriage was blessed with one son, Lee.

Following his brief teaching career, he entered the field of engineering. His work in attainments have been published in “Who’s Who in the East.”

Mr. and Mrs. Gruber reside in Rutherford, New Jersey.
