Whipple, Richard H. (August 13, 1932 - August 25, 2010)

Richard H. Whipple, age 78, of Hartford, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at Oconomowoc Hospital.


Richard was born August 13, 1932 in Marshfield, Wis., to Ira and Isabel (Rogers) Whipple.

He was united in marriage to Marie Kreuser in 1960. She preceded him in death in 1976. Richard married Ardis (Danen) Herman in 1980. She preceded him in death in 2004.


Richard moved to Hartford in the early 1950s. He worked for W.B. Place, then at John Deere in Horicon for 30 years. He was a member of St. Kilian Parish, the Catholic Knights, Dr. E.T. Monroe Council No. 2689 Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Holy Hill Assembly No. 1677 Knights of Columbus, Courtney-Carr-Milner Post No. 19 American Legion, Voiture 898 40 & 8 American Legion, Holy Name Society and Ushers Society of St. Kilian.


Richard is survived by his children, Rita (John) Bravo of Marco Island, Fla., Michael (Laura) Steger, Keith (Laurie) Whipple, Alan (Pamela) Whipple, all of Hartford, and Julie (Ronald) Peszko of Slinger; step-children, June Herman of Watertown, Daniel (Carm) Herman of Rockton, Ill., Dr. Patti (Bill) Herman-Welch of Lodi, Charles (Dr. Ruth) Herman of Lindwood, Kan., Kenneth (Kim) Herman of Watertown and William (Leity) Herman of Silver Springs, Md.; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Jerold (Eldora) Whipple of Mosinee, Rosalie Brandt of Medford, Ron Whipple of Watauga, Texas. He is further survived by brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.


Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie; his second wife, Ardis; his parents; sisters, Lorraine, Peggy, Betty and Louise; and his brothers, John, James and Robert.


A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Aug 27, 2010 at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Hartford, with Rev. David LaPlante officiating.


Interment was at St. Kilian Cemetery in Hartford.
