Plooy, Henry W. (12 Oct. 1938 – 9 Mar. 2009)

MEDFORD -- Henry W. Plooy, 70, of Medford died Monday, March 9, 2009, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born Oct. 12, 1938, in Bellflower, Calif., son of the Henry and Lena (Boer) Plooyy. On Oct. 17, 1959, he married JoAnne Peralta in Modesto, Calif.

Henry worked as a dairy farmer.

Survivors include his mother, Lena Plooy, Ripon, Calif.; his wife, JoAnne Plooy, Medford; six children, Sherri (Bill) Boer, Modesto, Calif., Henry Plooy Jr., Medford, Michael (Cheri) Plooy, Medford, Heidi (Scott) Brandner, Medford, Robert (Aeron) Plooy, Stratford, and Carrie (Rob) Seidel, Stetsonville; 14 grandchildren; two sisters, Jeni Hoekstra, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Helen Vanderwall, Ripon, Calif.; and one brother, Tom Plooy, Anchorage, Alaska.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, and again Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

MEDFORD -- Henry W. Plooy, 70, of Medford died Monday, March 9, 2009, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2009, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Athens. The Very Rev. Charles Hiebl, Rev. Gerard Willger and Rev. Joseph Diermeier will concelebrate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 312 Caroline St., Athens, and again Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service at 7 p.m. today at the church.

He was born Oct. 12, 1938, in Bell Flower, Calif., the son of Henry and Lena Plooy. On Oct. 17, 1959, he married JoAnne Peralta in Modesto, Calif. Henry owned and operated dairy farms in California and Wisconsin before retiring. He enjoyed retirement, fishing and spending time with his family.

Henry is survived by his wife, JoAnne Plooy, of Medford; six children, Sherri (Bill) Boer, Modesto, Calif., Henry Plooy Jr., Medford, Michael (Cheri) Plooy, Medford, Heidi (Scott) Brandner, Medford, Robert (Aeron) Plooy, Stratford and Carrie (Rob) Seidel, Stetsonville; 14 grandchildren; his mother, Lena Plooy, Ripon, Calif.; two sisters, Jeni Hoekstra, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Helen Vanderwall, Ripon, Calif.; one brother, Tom Plooy, Anchorage, Alaska; and many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Holy Rosary School, Medford or St. Anthony School, Athens.
