Kloth, Lester H. (February 11, 1919 - October 13, 2008)

Lester H. Kloth, age 89, of Dorchester, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Funeral serviced will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 17 at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Dorchester. The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix will officiate. Burial will be in Dorchester Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday one hour prior to service time.

Mr. Kloth was born February 11, 1919 in Medford, Wis., the son of Henry and Mary (Heinz) Kloth. He attended the Barry School in the Town of Holton. Lester then worked in his father's cheese factory in the Town of Holton, and later at the Parson's Cheese Factory.

On March 23, 1940 in Hales Corners, Wis., Lester was united in marriage to the former Gertrude Schwartz. Following their marriage Lester worked on the Schwartz family farm, which the couple later purchased. In addition to farming, Mr. Kloth worked as a mechanic at the Seidel Brothers Garage in Dorchester. He then worked as a welder for Northern Star Mobile Homes in Stratford, and retired from Dorchester Towers in 1978. In retirement Lester drove the road grader and snowplow for the Town of Holton for many years.

Lester was the neighborhood fix-it-man; he enjoyed recycling and reusing scrap and salvaged items. He loved being outdoors fishing, hunting and snowmobiling and riding his 3-wheeler around the farm.

Mr. Kloth is lovingly survived by his wife, Gertrude of Dorchester; his children; Kenneth (Bonnie) Kloth of Merrill, Ruthann (James) Maw of Finger, Tenn., Jerry (Marlene) Kloth of Wausau, Bonnie (Robert) Svoboda of Colby, Lyle (LuAnn) Kloth of Dorchester and Jesse Kloth of Dorchester; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Three sisters, Evelyn Denzin of Wausau, Joyce Kloth of Wausau and Barbara (Robert) Umnus of Wausau, further survive Lester.

One son, David; a granddaughter, Crystal; a great grandson, Ricky; and a brother, Melvin, preceded Mr. Kloth in death.
