Niggemann, Marian Loretta (March 26, 1919 - October 5, 2008)

 

Marian Loretta Niggemann, 89, Town of Chelsea, passed away Sunday, Oct. 5 at Golden LivingCenter in Rib Lake.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Oct. 9 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating. Interment will be at Chelsea Community Cemetery in Chelsea. Pallbearers will be Aaron Niggemann, Ervin Ulrich, Randy Krause, Randy Juedes, Kristy Kapfhamer, Robert Wennerstrand, Cory Niggemann and Mike Niggemann.

 

Marian was born March 26, 1919 on the family homestead in Chelsea to John S. and Catherine T. (Kestler) Mayer, attended Chelsea Graded School and was a 1937 graduate of Westboro High School. She then was employed at Medford Hospital as a nurses aide.

 

On November 16, 1940 she was married to George M. Niggemann at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea.

 

Marian was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, past member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church as well as the Ladies Sodality there. Marian was proud that her mother was instrumental in choosing the name for the church in Chelsea, as well as the fact that her ancestors had brought the church bell to Chelsea. Marian and her husband George also sponsored a priest through a seminary in India. She enjoyed working on the family farm, especially milking cows by hand and by machine, riding on their John Deere tractor, fishing, gardening and flowers, homemaking - she was a wonderful cook - and enjoyed spending time with her family.

 

She is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Duane Niggemann, Dennis (Diane) Niggemann, Norbert (Nancy) and George (Gale) Niggemann, all of Chelsea; five daughters and five sons-in-law, Geraldine "Gerri" (Robert) Wennerstrand of Warroad, Minn., Marian "Midge" (Henry) Krause of Westboro, Eileen (Rodger) Ulrich of Chelsea, Roberta "Bert" (Ron) Juedes of Medford and Rita (Roger) Juedes of Stetsonville; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, John (Florence) Mayer of Chelsea and Ervin (Nona Rae) Mayer of Neenah; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Kathryn Niggemann of Milwaukee, Lorraine Nelson of Chelsea and Delores (Ed) Sackman of Westboro; 34 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George M. Niggemann; a son, Raymond Niggemann; and two brothers-in-law, Anthony Niggemann and Charles Nelson.

 

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
