Shook, Sharon L. (Peltier) (31 MAR 1945 - 27 JUL 2012)

Sharon L. Shook, 67, Westboro, died on Friday, July 27 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where she had been a patient for almost three months. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Prentice, with Father Jerry Hagen officiating. Cremainal inurnment will be at Mount Olive Cemetery in Westboro.

The former Sharon Peltier was born on March 31, 1945 in Westboro to the late William E. and Anna (Hodick) Peltier. She was a 1963 graduate of Westboro High School, received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Superior and a Master of Science degree in guidance and counseling from UW-Stout.

She moved to Milwaukee where she worked as an assembler for Allen-Bradley for four years, then moved back to the Westboro area.

On June 4 1966 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Westboro, she married Robert "Bob" J. Shook, who survives. She was a homemaker, housewife and mother, and after her children were grown, she went back to school and received various degrees.

She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, a Hope Hospice volunteer, and past member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Westboro and its Ladies Group and a religious education teacher. She enjoyed skydiving in her younger years, gardening, her flower beds, crocheting, family picnics, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Julie (Craig) Lake of Ogema; a son, Tracy (Karen) of Westboro; a sister, Mildred "Jean" (Ronald) Brott of Eagle; two half-sisters, Grace (Galen) Schlais and Violet Kuchenbecker, both of Medford; and five grandchildren, Kyle, Sierra and Colton Lake and Cassandra and Chelsea Shook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Hebert; a brother, Emil; and a half-brother, William Kuchenbecker.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to her family to be designated at a later date.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Hemer Funeral Service of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
